One of the words we often hear in our lives is this word sacrifice. If there are many words in the world that are most misunderstood, this word is one of them. Many people say I sacrificed my time and life for my family.
Some will say that I have sacrificed my studies, some have sacrificed my youth, and some have sacrificed my talents. To understand this, it is necessary to know that we understand what sacrifice is.
What we think of as sacrifice is understood to mean that we have lost something. But in the course of cosmic events all that takes place is giving and receiving only. Our level of understanding is limited.
The explanation for this can be best understood from an incident in the life of the Buddha. Everyone knows about Buddha that he renounced the kingdom in search of him. After he became a monk, he was asked what he had lost.
He said that I have not lost anything, but I have gained through meditation the truth, the understanding that there is no death, the cause of suffering, the truth of who I am, the order of the cosmic events, the way to get rid of karma and so on.
Because in this universe there is no inequality or decrease that is left out. Everything has been confirmed to be balanced. So, in the moments when we feel we have lost something, we need awareness to understand what we have gained.
Meditating will create that awareness within us. If we think about our sacrifices with awareness, we will realize that we gained new experiences, friends, talents, opportunities, relationships, understandings, and so on. But we always think about the past and regret only what we have lost.
In fact, cosmic motion works only in the present moment. Meditation will help you to understand this and live a happy life. Then we will understand the truth that there is nothing to lose by sacrifice in the world.
